“Getting tied up in ropes and chains; escaping from a tiny locked metal box; and, being suspended high above the ground in a straitjacket may seem like frightening things. To Jason Gardner, aka Jason Escape,” it `s simply another day at the office.
Abracadabra!
This almost `supernatural artist` was influenced by his father and grandfather at a very young age. Joel Gardner, Jason`s father, was the bearer of the creativity and humor that would become a integral part of Jason`s chosen career path; while Jason`s grandfather offered entry into a world where Jason would excel. To say the least, these two amazing men would play a large part in the creation of Jason Escape.
Living just outside New York City, Jason and his grandfather would spend time going to all the shows that focused on the greatest illusionists of the time period. Jason would sit in the theatres and venues practically shaking, waiting for the amazing performer of the hour to take the stage. His rapt attention would focus on the likes of Copperfield, Henning – even Penn & Teller – and the hours would fly by as Jason`s day turned into one of the most mystical and unimaginable events in the world. One of the best parts came after the show, when Jason`s grandfather would introduce a trick for Jason to learn. And, boy, did Jason learn! With each try, Jason`s hands became `quicker than the eye,` and he began to feel the thrills and chills of the world of enchantment pump through his blood.
In the 1990`s, as Jason was touring with bands and traveling around the country, his true desire to practice illusions, stunts, and other mystical paths grew. Beginning simply, Jason used the tricks of the trade` that his grandfather had taught him. At that time, perhaps even Jason didn`t know that the skills he had would grow so immense that they`d one day end up startling and mesmerizing audiences everywhere.
Throwing himself into the world of sorcery and illusion, Jason practiced constantly. He even began rock-climbing and doing yoga in order to increase his dexterity and strength to be able to perform stunts – the likes of which were incomprehensible to the people around him. He also used his extremely creative mind and unending spirit to challenge himself in all different ways. Learning how to free himself from furniture he was tied to, making objects vanish into thin air, and even reading his own cat`s mind, Jason went to great lengths to achieve the best illusion or “escape` possible.
